For Moms|Little Kid|Outdoor|Toddler

We’re all navigating our way through COVID at different paces. Some of us are comfortable going to malls, some of us not.

If you want to get out but not be in the crowds, get the kids outdoors and take advantage of the new season. Aside from beaches, there are many beautiful parks and playgrounds you can take the kids to. Whether it’s to burn off some energy or just to soak up a bit of the nature that we’re all missing.

It’s something that so many of us are missing at the moment. Especially as many of would have normally had their fill over the summer.  So here are our picks of outdoor public spaces to enjoy. You can find more on the QiDZ Mobile App!

Space Park

Space Park Al Barsha | QiDZ | Kids Activities in Dubai

This one here is our top find! Its in Al Barsha 2 and not only is it modern and clean, its also has a turf floor and not sand so you won’t bring the entire desert home with you!

Al Khazzan Park

Al Khazzan Park | Outdoor Fun for Kids | QiDZ | Kids Activities in Dubai

One of the oldest community parks in Dubai, Al Khazzan or Kazzan Park is a small gated family park in Satwa. It’s just opposite City Walk – which is packed with all you need for a lovely morning or afternoon with the family. It has a paved path for the scooting tribe, 2 playground areas set on a sandpit and a big tree providing shade overlooking one of the children’s playgrounds! So you can watch on while you grab a bite to eat or a coffee.

The park is also the first “zero-energy” park for the emirate where the park is exclusively powered by solar energy. It’s free to enter, but the entrance opposite City Walk is closed, so park and enter on 89th street.

Burj Park

Burj Park | Outdoor Fun for Kids | QiDZ | Kids Activities in Dubai

With a breathtaking view of the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Fountains, Burj Park is the most picturesque places in Dubai to set up your picnic. Although there aren’t vast facilities, there are loads of cafes and restaurants over on the mall side. Keep your eyes peeled as well for the NOON refreshment cart- an automated vending machine that makes its way through the park.

Around the park, there’s a great running track stretching over five kilometers and a Kids Train- which you pay per trip.

Al  Barsha Pond Park

Al Barsha Pond Park | QiDZ | Kids Activities in Dubai

Take in the greenery and serenity of this park only a stones throw from the hustle and bustle of SZR. This park is FREE to enter and borders a man made pond with water pedalos and activities for the whole family.

Bring the kids scooters or bikes down, pack a picnic basket or just let them loose on the outdoor play equipment and sports courts.  There are lots of beautiful shaded areas for you to take in the sounds of nature or lots of winding paths for mums with strollers.

If you’re after a quick refreshment, there are a couple of vending machines at the start of the park. Deliveroo also know the park well, so you can always order a pizza to the park for an early dinner!

Barsha 2 Park

Al Barsha 2 Park | QiDZ | Kids Activities in Dubai

A cute little park in between Hessa and Umm Suqueim streets and just behind Al Barsha Pond Park. Don’t be deterred by the busy carpark- that’s because there’s a very popular Karak shop at the entrance that serves refreshments all day.

It has 2 playgrounds, grass areas for small family picnics and a walking track- for walkers and the scooting tribe. We love that once again its gated and fenced so the little scooting people can’t get out! Quiet and serene, a little hidden gem.

Safa Park 2

Safa Park 2 | Outdoor Activities for Kids | QiDZ | Kids Activities in Dubai

Behind al Manara Centre, lies another hidden gem known as Safa Park 2. It is a quaint community park with lots of shaded play areas, patches of green grass, sandpits, jogging and cycling track and a football pitch. It is a manageable size and fenced in! So especially great for younger kids and ones who like to wander- they can’t get far!

Bring the kids bikes or scooters too- it has winding paths and a hill- and best part is, there’s always another kid ready to do a scooting obstacle course or race. There’s also a small kiosk selling ice candies and refreshments – a great treat for the hotter months. They are doing temperature checks at the gate, but steer clear around 4pm which tends to be rush hour.

Al Ittihad – The Palm

Al Ittihad Park | Outdoor Fun for Kids | QiDZ | Kids Activities in Dubai

A great spot to bring the kids down with their scooters or bikes. A beautiful shaded walking and jogging track lined by restaurants and cafes of The Golden Mile on one side and Shoreline apartments the other. The track borders cascading water features, picnic spots and benches. There’s also outdoor playgrounds and play areas and if you look above you just might catch the monorail as it passes by.

JLT Park & Playground

JLT Parks | QiDZ | Kids Activities in Dubai

In the middle of the tall tower clusters of JLT is a huge green space and playground for the whole family. Bring the kids down with their scooters and scoot along the waters’ edge- keeping off the blue cushioned path which is reserved for joggers and walkers only.

The park is so expansive you can really keep your distance here. In fact you might find yourself spinning in the middle with your arms spread out (think Maria Sound of Music- without the mountains) just because it’s so green. The playground is huge too with lots of different areas for younger and older kids. Parking is in the service road, so no need to battle the business parking in the clusters anymore.

Al Sufouh Park

Al Sufouh Park | QiDZ | Kids Activities in Dubai

A cute, quiet little park near Hessa Street and parallel to Jumeirah Beach Road  with 2 shaded playgrounds and a few green patches to set up a picnic in the shade. The park also has a 300m cushioned jogging track around its perimeter, a full-size outdoor basketball court and a small football pitch.

Although these are temporarily closed due to COVID, the younger kids can still enjoy the playgrounds, scoot along the paths inside the park while you set up a picnic on the grassy lawns and take in a bit of nature. This one is also gated, so great if you’re trying to keep an eye on the escapists!

JBR Playgrounds

JBR Plaza Playgrounds- Sadaf Plaza | QiDZ | Kids Activities in Dubai

There is still a playground on the beach near Blue Water bridge. However it is now half its size due to construction. If you’re looking for some outdoor play, head up to Plaza level along JBR. Look around for a range of gated playgrounds, play equipment and trampolines.

Part of the new renovation in some clusters include Ping Pong tables! So pack some paddles and balls in your bag (it’s not that strange an idea!). It’s also a car free (although some delivery bikes are around) area so the kids can freely scoot or bike across the different communities.
